Your listening study path
IELTS Listening practice
Train yourself to follow the final meaning, not the first familiar word. Work on one listening difficulty at a time, then combine answer prediction, attention and checking in a complete attempt.

What to practise in Listening
IELTS Listening has four parts and 40 questions. The recording is played once. Preview the questions, follow the recording and respect the answer instructions instead of waiting to hear the exact words printed on the page.
Academic or General Training?
Listening is the same for Academic and General Training. Use the instructions for your delivery format when practising answer entry and checking; do not build a routine around transfer time from a different format.

Step 1
Predict the kind of answer
Before listening, decide whether each gap needs a place, number or object. After answering, check that the word fits the note without repeating printed words.

Track a route from a fixed landmark

library. The museum was the original plan and the café was rejected. This transcript exercise trains attention to corrections; it does not replace practice with audio.

How should I review a wrong Listening answer?
Attempt the task before checking the transcript. Then identify whether you missed a sound, followed a rejected option, lost your place or broke a word limit. Replay the short section to work on that cause, rather than repeatedly restarting the whole recording.
Can I use these Listening guides for General Training?
Yes. Academic and General Training share the Listening test. Practise the question types here and use the answer-entry instructions for your own test format.
